Rpd instruction manual

It's the only true German MG42 armorer's manual I've seen. This contains dimension drawings for making pressure plate, extractor, sightline and headspace gauges, other home-made tools, how to perform repairs and inspections, how to reinforce the stocks including making and installing the not-often-seen straps on the corners of the wood stocks , and has many pages of tables on troubleshooting.

Sighting in is explained in depth, and if it can go wrong, from cracks behind the Cam Piece to worn out parts, it's in here. The Contents page doesn't do justice to the actual contents.

It also contains 7 pages on the operation and disassembly of the MG42 Lafette, and has a few pages of tables showing pin, rivet and coil spring dimensions. This manual is the most technically detailed manual for the MG42 available. This it is not an operator's manual. If you need basic information about how the MG42 functions, this is not the manual to get first. This manual assumes that you have a working knowledge of the MG42, and already know the names of the parts.

It doesn't have pictures of how to wear the split strap, or assemble the bolt. A Waffenmeister would already know that.

It was not written for an MG newbie who doesn't understand how the gun works. It is a manual for the person fixing the problems, not for the shooter.

I emphasize this because I don't want someone buying it and being discouraged because the manual doesn't explain the basics the armorer would already know. The bad part is that it was written in Serbo-Croatian Yugoslav , so it took a lot of time to translate it.

After 10 weeks, I have it in English. No, you can't just type it into Google translator and have it make sense. I tried it, and most of the result is not even close to usable. I had to buy dictionaries and learn some Serbo-Croation for this one, then sit with the gun, the lafette, and the belt loader in pieces to make sure I got it right, then translate and clean up all the illustrations, and since it is twice the size of most manuals pages , this translation was a lot of work.

This has full size 8. See the table of contents and sample pages below. Foreign orders are welcome, email me for the extra cost for postage. It was retired from service in It's for the MG 1, which was the post war production model of the weapon in 7. If you're building a semi-auto or bought a parts kit, this one is for you. This manual shows exploded diagrams of all the parts, pins, springs, little pieces, big pieces, rivets, and screws that make the MG.

Exploded parts pictures include the grip with trigger and safety, muzzle booster and front sight with detent levers, rear sight assembly, bolt, barrel change door, top cover, charging handle, recuperator, stock, bipod, and buffer. This manual will let you know what it is you have in your parts kit, where it goes, and what's missing. It also explains how the weapon works, and has 5 pages on stoppages. It's the only manual with the exploded diagrams of every part, not just a parts list with a chart.

Page 24 below shows one exploded diagram. The others are the same style. Please reference "PDV " on your order. Waffenausbildung - Instruction Manual for the MG. Weapon Training. This is a fine, late war manual, dated Sept. Originally pages in a pocket size book, it's reformatted to larger pages with a larger type size to make it easier to read. This even shows how to use the Extractor Changer tool, and has an excellent section about stoppages jams , causes and clearing.

This is another must have MG manual. The H. They don't overlap too much - both together would be an excellent choice. If you need exploded diagrams of all parts, then PDV above is for you. Please reference "HDv " on your order. This manual was published in Part I has many graphics showing the complete disassembly and assembly of the MG42, right down to taking the cocking handle out and detailed assembly of the bolt, including the spring-loaded bolt catch. It also has information about the different nozzle sizes required for 8mm and NATO 7.

It contains a very detailed description of the sequence of operation, including full graphics of how the recoil booster, recuperator, trigger, and bolt function in detail. Part II contains a full parts list, and many diagrams of the sub-assemblies and individual parts.

Part I - 80 pages, Part II - 40 pages, pages total. If you're only going to get one of my translated MG42 manuals, this should be it so that you can fully understand the sequence of operation. The MG42 is a complicated weapon that demands understanding to operate successfully, and this manual explains how it all works. For the owner of an MG42 in either semi or full-auto, I consider this manual to be a must have. If you're building a semi-auto MG42 or have a parts kit, PDV above should also be one of your choices.

If anyone has this early version of this manual, recognized by the manual having 55 pages and the fact that it doesn't make much sense in a lot of places , please send it back to me and I'll replace it with the newer version listed below.

There will be no charge for the replacement manual not even postage. I apologize for my error. The first edition of this manual was dated March 15, It was a good manual and did contain information that wasn't found in any of the other manuals, but the odd thing about it was that there were no pictures.

I recently found the edition of this same manual. The difference between the two was some updated text, and the addition of nine pictures. This revised manual is very informative about the operation, use, and care of the M. The muzzle brake is not mentioned in the text, but is shown in the pictures of the gun. This also contains troubleshooting tables, while the overshooting tables are in the Appendices.

Paperback, 8. An original wartime manual. Paperback, 56 pages with all the basics for the MG 42 user, several pictures of the various mounts, full parts breakdowns, and a complete parts list with even the wire sizes of the springs, and diagrams listing the individual parts. This one is worth buying just for the parts listings and spring sizes. For a U. This manual explains the need for the telescopic sight to pivot fully around and how that is used for indirect fire.

It's not specifically written as an MGZ manual, but a lot of questions are answered about the extra capabilities the lafette mounted scopes have. This manual also gives some detail about how to set up the searching fire mechanism, how the aiming circle is used and set up, how to use the measuring triangle the complicated aluminum double disk device with extended legs for plotting, aiming stakes, and the deckungswinkelmesser cover slope measurer.

What a neat piece of equipment: Algebra can be used to find the length of the other two sides of a triangle if you know the length of one side and two angles. I used to do that in my high school math class. The measuring triangle is a triangulation slide rule, made for determining the distance to the target for precise ranging by using an aiming circle and an MGZ to determine two angles, and measuring one side by stepping it off or using the distance measurer.

About 8. As the manual lays open, the left page has two descriptions which are associated with the two illustrations on the right page. There are 86 illustrations. Please reference "Indirect Aiming" on your order.

There are some differences, namely the bolt and sights, and a special trigger group that allows single fire. The Lafette mount is quite a unique piece of hardware too.

It's all explained in this dated military issued manual. Please reference "MG74" on your order. See the table of contents for a full listing. Includes 3 fold-out pages. All graphics are copied from the original manual, and are as clear as the original I bought the original to translate , which was in service and updated until An outstanding value, this manual also covers the MG3 plastic drum and clip-on belt box, the modern feed tray, the blank firing device and training cartridge device.

All these accessories are available on the surplus market for this gun. The Germans left nothing to question about the MG 3 with this manual. The Bundswehr Manual from April with updates to Paperback, 96 pages with operation and description of use, disassembly, maintenance, and sub-assemblies, with over diagrams.

The A1 is the designation for the coaxial and remote mounted MG, mounted without the shoulder stock. It has some duplication of the other manuals naturally , but there are a lot of modern details that aren't in the earlier translations. It also shows the spring-loaded feed pin on the bolt and how to disassemble it. This manual is the mate to the next two manuals below Lafette and Optics.

The mate to the above manual, this is a Troop and Field Repair Manual, dated , 56 pages. If you need a manual with exploded diagrams for your parts kit, PDV above is better, but this has many exploded parts diagrams in it too. This manual explains the lower level repairs such as how to change the bolt rollers the easy way , adjust the sights, how the trigger, stock, and sight assemblies go together, how to use the recoil spring strength tester, the bore erosion gauge, MG3 combination tool, and the Receiver Repair Tool Kit that RTG Parts used to sell.

It also shows several special tools for working on the MG 3, which is of course, the modern version of the MG This manual isn't as high-end as the wartime dated armorer's manual above , but it still has enough details to make this a valuable source for knowing how to repair the MG.

This manual will be particularly useful if you have any of the 3 tool kits the German armorer used for working on the MG3. Please reference "MG3 Repair" on your order. Dated , for all the modern surplus AA tripods out there. This is a direct, page by page translation of the manuals that were issued with this scope.

Please reference "Night Vision Scope" on your order. The actual name of "tripod" refers to the anti-aircraft light tripod used to shoot when standing up. This is the heavy ground tripod, often found with optics and the battery box. July with updates to Paperback, 50 pages with operation and description of use, maintenance, and sub-assembly diagrams. This is a translation of the original German manual for all the M. Optics are not included in this manual see below.

If you'd like to see a picture of the English language label for inside the Battery Box for the lighting accessory, click Here. Please reference "MG3 Lafette" on your order. It took me 3 years of searching to find this manual. It is not to be confused with the much smaller manual listed below.

If you have one of these fine scopes, this is the manual that explains the ranging reticle and how to care for your optics. If you'd like to see a picture of the English version of the Battery Box label for the lighting accessory, click Here.

Please reference "MG3 Optics Large " on your order. This is the factory issued manual for the periscope-type optics that come with the MG3 Lafette the manual for the tripod itself is listed above. It's not exactly the most detailed manual I've ever seen, but it's the one issued in English by Hensoldt. Please reference "MG3 Optics Small " on your order.

This is three manuals combined into one volume, showing the main assemblies of the gun, what happens inside the gun during loading and shooting, and how to inspect the MG in preparation for shooting. Originally issued as three separate manuals, each had the same format of two captions on the left page as the book lays open, with the corresponding pictures no line drawings on the right page two captions with pictures for each pair of pages.

Shortly after the adoption of the MG42, a muzzle brake replacing the flash suppressor was issued for it. The muzzle brake was delivered in very limited quantities, and nobody seems to have one today, but Bildheft a from has clear pictures of the muzzle brake on the MG42, and a great close-up exploded-view picture showing how it's made, attached, and what's inside.

The Germans had a sets of slides they'd show to the troops for training on the MG These manuals were made to go along with the A, B, and C series of the training slide show sets, and are about the same as the slide show except on paper.

The picture on page 19 below shows the muzzle brake on the MG. Page 15 not below shows a close-up of the brake disassembled. I first translated manual a of this series, and since then I have found volumes b and c. They've now been combined into one manual. In other words, I'll allow full credit for the older manual less postage.

Please reference "Bildheft abc" on your order. Dated Not extremely detailed as this is not a full manual. It does contain the basics to check for with the 34 and 42 before firing, and has a question and answer section at the back to make sure the student understands the basics.

Contains a good version of the "Twelve Commandments for the M. A good supplement, but not a replacement for a fully detailed manual. Priced accordingly. Description and use manual for the M. Telescopic Sight MG. Aiming Circle, M. Aiming Fixture, M. Measuring Triangle, M. This manual provides a thorough description and limited instructions for use of the above equipment. Please reference "HDv.

This one is well written and well illustrated, with excellent explanations and illustrations about the internal operation of the gun. I'd still like to find an actual operator manual for the MGZ 34 or 40 , but this manual has a good start for explaining how to operate this typically German, over-engineered piece of hardware.

See the table of contents pictures below. Please reference "Denckler MG34" on your order. A very informative small manual. Please reference "MG34 Method of Operation" on your order. Dated Aug. It's not as extensively detailed as the MG42 armorer's manual, but this is the only manual I've found for repairing the MG This explains how to keep the MG34 running, what goes wrong, and how to fix it. There seems to have been two levels for repairing the MG This manual covers the less technical gun mechanic level, explaining maintenance that would be done in the local gun workshop.

Guns needing repairs that are beyond the scope of this manual were to be sent in to the "Authorized Army Field Troop Repair Workshop". If that didn't fix it, the gun went back to the manufacturer. This manual does cover most of the common repairs for the MG34, including spring tension specs for the recoil and firing pin springs, and the repairs for the most common problems.

The first 7 pages are a general explanation of procedures, most of the remainder of the manual is a table detailing causes, remedies, and specs for the repairs. This manual contains information that simply isn't in any other manual, and is without a doubt worth the purchase price. As with the MG42 repair manual above , this manual assumes you have a working knowledge of the MG34 and know the names of the parts and how it all goes together.

This MG34 repair manual does not have information about how to disassemble and assemble the MG34, or how the gun operates. A gun mechanic would already know the basics, so they're not included.

If you aren't already experienced and familiar with the MG34 and its operation, this should not be a first manual. Paperback, pages. The famous MG 34 Butz manual, translated into English.
